Telemedicine System over Advanced Network between Korea and Italy

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to develop telemedicine system by establishing advanced network between hospitals in Korea and Italy. Using telemedicine system, we were able to send surgical images and voice not only domestic area but also to international area. Moreover, we could discuss the condition of surgical procedures in operating room and conference room. Especially the TEIN(Trans- Eurasia Information Network) was structured between Asia and Europe. To link the surgical image between the Yonsei University Hospital is Seoul and Center of Laparoscopy in Rome, we started telemedicine system on the circumstance with IPv4 network. The teleconference session and live surgery transmission on internet protocol using advanced network were performed successfully. We have established an international network with high-quality video and voice transmission over internet protocol. Thus, it will be a promising tool in remote medicine for international telemedicine system in the future.
